Boredom

Boredom is what I define as something that we have achived and there is nothing more to do. Its an empty mind (a devils workshop).  Lets look at it this way, children look forward for the weekends or holidays and when its the last working day they feel happy and content that there is no school the next day were after playing, watching tv, reading etc they get tired of all this and end up saying "I am bored'.  What about adults?   During  holidays or weekends we enjoy getting up late and going slow with things, after a few weeks we feel that time and work are getting out of our hands and would like to get back to routine but as the routine starts we get bored.  I feel the true pleasure lies in lazing around.  When we know that  hell lot of work is to be done but try to sneak out some time to relax and have a cup of tea or  watch tv or  gossip with a friend,  and that I feel is the true pleasure of life.

Bahrain

Bahrain is a small country with two seas which explains the name Bahrain which means land with two seas.  Its nice to be in Bahrain during Eid holidays.   You get to see a lot of tourist and Bahrainies and is a blend of  trends and styles.  The atmosphere is so lively that even if you dont celebrate Eid you have a festive feeling around you.  You feel everyone one is here to celebrate and to share the same joy as you do.  The malls and play areas are packed with people. The kids joy can be clearely seen on their faces. The parents have a satisfied look on them seeing their kids enjoy.   The kids dont feel bored while their parents do some  shopping coz the kids are busy watching people, their dressing style ,wondering which ice cream are they eating or which new toy does the other kid have.  They get the feeling that they are not the only ones who are going through the same phase.  The malls have water theme park and play areas in which parents and kids enjoy equally so they wait with patience not to spoil the mood of their parents coz they too are aware of the joy the parents get to be a child again.  In short Bahrain is a small bundle of package with great joy.

Eid Al Fitr

This is the celebration that marks the end of the month of Ramadan. Its like you have purified youself by restricting from all bad things and starting a new life style to improve onself from all bad habbits.  This day men  women and children  attend the Eid prayer.  It is usually conducted in open grounds.  Muslims wear new clothes this day looking their very best to stand in front of Allah asking him to accept the good deeds they have done in the entire month of Ramadan and to thank him.  Children ofcourse look forward for this day coz starting from the mosque people bring basket full of sweets cakes  juices etc which they distribute among children.  Then they go to their grandparents house for the morning breakfast.  Elders give the children 'Eidiya' which means 'Eid gift' in the form of money, toys or gifts.  It is a way of thanking them for fasting and encouraging them to do more in the forthcomming years .  Talking of Ediya I remeber the enthusiasm we had to visit all our friends and relatives to collect money from each and everyone.  At the end of the day we sit and count to see if anyone has got more than us and there used to be fights coz our elder brothers or sisters come behind us to borrow our money or to negociate. After the holidays we go to the toy stores to spend that money on whatever we like. We go visiting our friends , relatives  neighbours or have a getogather in a park or hotel etc.The families who give us the highest amount of Eidiya are noted and parents are forced to visit that house every year for Eid.  In India they prepare special sweets like sevayya or semiya as called in the south. The sweet tooth people enjoy the best of their lives in these three days of Eid .  Then we prepare biryani which again is a famous dish prepared for lunch.  The three days of Eid are spend in meeting  greeting and rejoicing in such a way that when we  get back to our normal life we are happy that we have spend the best of our days with our family and friends or even met people whom you havent met for a long time..

Lailathul Qadr

Ramadan as I say is not only spiritual but also a habitual month because it not only increases your closeness to God but also corrects your bad habits and allows you to control it.  In cases where we are not able to control our eating ,drinking, smoking etc. this month is the best time for it as it helps you to get control over all these habits for a month which is enough to correct ourselves and have a conrol on everything we do.  The last ten nights of Ramadan are very important coz among the last ten nights fall the Lailathul Qadr which is highly assumed to be on the eve of 27th Ramadan.  Muslims put their heart and soul in prayer and doing good deeds and the reward is believed to multiplied 70 times in this sacred month. Its like a yearly sale that you can gather up blessing and rewards and multiplying it. Lailathul Qadr as a matter of fact is the best of all sales it is also known as the Night of Power as it is not 70 times but a benifit or reward of doing a good deed for 1000 months. Be it prayer, alms giving, zakat, helping poor, even saying good words to others or forgiving your enemies. Muslims spend sleepless nights to get Allahs mercy, blessings, rewards etc.  It can fall in any of  the last odd ten nights of Ramadan.  According to scholars the highest chances are the eve of 27th ramadan.  Today is the eve of 27th Ramadan and I ask all my friends and others to include me and family in your prayers and may Allah bless you and shower all his blessing on all mankind and protect us and accept our good deed, prayers and duas Ameen.

Aquarium

This I think should be in every house who loves to relax when they feel depressed, lonely or even just to lazy around. Though its not yoga, it has the qualities of easing ones mind.My favourite pass time is to sit near it and look at the way they swim ,chase, hunt for food etc. I feel they do understand our mood swings and swim in a pattern that puts us at ease .You can sit looking at them for long hours without feeling bored. They do not show their love by touching you like cats and dogs do but they sure do have a bond which you can feel the moment you are next to them. The colours the nature the light and the movement what more to ask to add on to the beauty of your house.

Our Apartment

Kittu

Let me introduce to you the most naughtiest, cutest and the most lovable member of our family. He is kittu our pet cat. we got him when he was only six months old but looked bigger than his age.Any one who saw him fell in love with him. I remember when he was brought in for the first time  to my house he ran and hid under the sofa the entire night, i had zero knowledge of cats but i knew some basics which i read on net. I asked my sons friend to pull him out and showed him his sand box in case he wanted to use it. My husband was not in town and would return only after 2days and he was the only person who knew how to handle cats as he had six of  them when he was small. As usual i got up in the morning to see the cat watching me and as i walked he tried to catch my feet which i thought was an attack made by him so i warned my kids to be very careful and wore a socks as his nails were hurting me which made the situation real worse as he felt it were some coloured mice moving around. When my neighbour came in to see my cat and saw him running behind me she said "he is hungry and didnt like the food that you have placed for him"after i placed another food he was happy and had it all. Then the next problem was that he was used to late night playing and sleeping all day so when we went to bed he would start meowing or scratching on our door. Finally my husband arrived and then all fell in place. Now he is attached to us in such a way that we take him as our two year old son and my son keeps saying that kittu is his brother. As naughty as cute as cuddble and as lovable as ever .
